12 months – 23 months
Children at this age are growing and learning rapidly. As they become more mobile they can explore and learn more about their world.
We see children developing independence, friendships, and beginning to test their limits. Our classroom provides opportunities for your child to grow and learn the necessary skills to succeed in school.
Children in our Penguins program experience:
- Language Acquisition:
they understand and respond to simple verbal requests, they use exclamations such as “uh-oh!” and try to imitate words. Reading, Singing, and Speaking in this class will help build strong vocabulary.
Children may develop preferences for certain types of toys and foods, and they are learning to express that. Children may also start testing parents and caregivers’ boundaries and authority.
- Social Awareness:
While stranger anxiety may show at this age, our classrooms provide warm, caring environments for children to learn how to play alongside peers and develop social/emotional skills.
- Sensory Play:
Children learn best through hands on activities
- Music and Movement:
Children are given the opportunity to express themselves, develop better coordination and language skills, during this time of the day.
